Southeast Michigan Healthy Climate Plan

Who’s making sure climate solutions reflect community priorities in Metro Detroit?

Funded by the U.S. EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program, the Southeast Michigan Healthy Climate Plan aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advance environmental justice across a seven-county region. As part of a consultant team led by SSG, Rhie Planning is co-leading the community engagement strategy on behalf of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG).

Chris developed an equity-centered engagement plan that includes a network of paid Climate Ambassadors, along with surveys and listening sessions to gather input from frontline communities. Insights from engagement are helping to shape regional climate priorities and inform future implementation strategies.
