California Statewide Mobile Monitoring Initiative
What happens when air monitoring goes where it's needed most?
Rhie Planning LLC is supporting air quality technology company Aclima, Inc. with the statewide community engagement strategy for the California Statewide Mobile Monitoring Initiative, a CARB-funded effort to deploy hyperlocal air quality monitoring across 64 consistently nominated communities burdened by pollution. In partnership with Aclima and local organizations, Rhie Planning is conducting outreach and providing back-end support to ensure inclusive participation, particularly among low-income communities, communities of color, and California Native American Tribes.
Our responsibilities include:
Recruiting community-based organizations as project partners
Developing a project-wide community engagement plan and community-specific air monitoring plans in coordination with Aclima and local partners
Producing multilingual outreach materials and public communications
Rhie Planning’s approach centers equity and transparency, creating pathways for residents to influence where and how air quality data is collected—helping CARB target interventions and investments where they are needed most.
